Safari Days Part 3

When I first read that our safari vehicle would only stay on the roads and we couldn't go "off-road" I thought we wouldn't see much. I assumed the animals would know to stay away.

But some actually like the roads. The pavement is warm so they like to lay on it.

I mentioned the "celebrity" of the lion?

The lioness did not care - She got even more comfortable:

 

We also saw a mama elephant guide her baby across the road

 

 

We actually had a lot of amazing encounters with elephants - We we're following this bad boy until he got tired of us and charged the truck.

    

And we watched this guy get a good butt scratch in

 

And this male elephant chasing a group of females (and a baby):

 

  

Elephants only mate at night so Neil said he was going to be chasing them all day. It was only 2:00! 

Also another interesting elephant fact - Females are pregnant for 22 months! Almost two years to have one baby!
